Sydney Metro Northwest Places Program

Landcom and Sydney Metro are working together to plan new places for communities to live, work, shop and play with the easy convenience of Metro North West Line right nearby.

These are Sydney Metro Northwest Places and stretch from Rouse Hill to Epping, providing:

a range of housing choices
spaces for businesses, workplaces and community facilities
walkable places with great access to great transport
sustainable places for current and future communities.

These places will develop over time, up to 10 years or more for some projects, but will be inviting, accessible, walkable places from day one. Over 10 years, the program will deliver:

up to 10,000 new dwellings including diverse housing types for new and future residents
up to 350,000m²of floorspace dedicated to employment in retail and commercial enterprises
parks and spaces for community use
community facilities.

Transit oriented development

The delivery of high quality places in response to transit oriented development opportunities is essential. Landcom and Sydney Metro have the opportunity to deliver vibrant precincts and new communities built around modern transport options. The vision

The vision for Sydney Metro Northwest Places is for:

a minimum 5% Affordable Housing across the program.

creating thriving local centres.

open street networks and paths connecting places to stations
connected to existing paths and cycleways.

open spaces for communities to enjoy
environmentally sustainable principles such as water and energy efficient design
well-designed public spaces and buildings that demonstrate design excellence.

Landcom's role in the Northwest Metro Places Program

Landcom is the master developer for land owned by Sydney Metro around new Sydney Metro Northwest stations . As master developer, we are leading studies to support planning for project sites, working with local councils, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, other government agencies, local businesses and communities to shape plans for projects.

We are partnering with the private sector to deliver projects across the program.

As part of our commitment to deliver inviting, welcoming and engaging local public spaces close to new Sydney Metro Northwest Stations, we are delivering:

large-scale public art projects across site hoardings at Tallawong, Kellyville, Bella Vista, Hills Showground and Cherrybrook
temporary public spaces opposite a number of metro stations.

About Metro North West

Sydney’s first metro line, the Metro North West, opened on 26 May 2019. Services at the 13 metro stations operate every four minutes in the peak in each direction on Australia’s first driverless railway. There is a metro station at each of the eight Sydney Metro Northwest Places.

Sydney Metro is being extended from the north west, to Sydney CBD through new underground city stations and beyond to the south west.

By 2024, Sydney will have 31 metro railway stations and a 66km standalone metro railway system, revolutionising the way Australia’s biggest city travels.

Travel times from our Sydney Metro Northwest Places to Sydney’s CBD will be between 30 to 50 minutes by 2024, supporting access to local business, jobs, education, healthcare and services.
